Solar Fabrication Lab

Overview of Services

In the Solar Fabrication Lab at Arizona State University, we work with academic, industrial, and governmental researchers across the U.S. and around the globe.

The lab is located at MacroTechnology Works in ASU research Park. In a state-of-the-art clean room with sophisticated semiconductor processing and metrology equipment, we  have an industrially-compatible complete fabrication line for diffused junction and heterojunction silicon solar cells. The facility includes 6,000 sq ft of cleanroom space equipped with a full suite of tools supporting silicon solar cell fabrication from wafers to modules. In addition, SFL has  a twelve source molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) tool for layer by layer growth of III-V materials for nanostructured and multijunction solar cells. All of these tools and associated services are available to external users from industry and university.
